Second Contact

Sometime on Tuesday, I received a text from the seller saying he wouldn’t be able to meet at the agreed time and wanted to bump it till Friday. I am confident, he was testing me to see how committed I was to making this deal. I called him and laid myself out for him to manipulate me from there on through the deal. On the call, he said he had a conflict and couldn’t make the agreed upon time. Well, my timeline was much more limited as I was leaving town on Friday for a business trip. I was confident that this was a great vehicle strictly from the Craigslist ad and I wanted to close the deal before I was gone and before someone else bought it. I told him I was limited on time and needed to meet by Wednesday to close the deal. He agreed to meet me at 7pm on Wednesday.  He now knew my deadline and that I had already sold myself on the car just from the ad. Since we agreed to meet after business hours he knew I wasn’t going to have the car looked at by a mechanic. Heck, I didn’t even realize I wasn’t going to do that at the time. I had believed the ad and was sold hook, line, and sinker. All I needed to do was pick up the car and give him the cash. All was set to close the deal the next day.
